A couple of years ago, there were a number of girl groups making combination 60's girl group/80's new wave albums. Camera Obscura and The Like we're a couple of the bands.I had read a couple of reviews for Frankie Rose's album and I was going to walk by, when I saw that she used to be in the Vivian Girls, who had an EP that I enjoyed.
I am enjoying this album. It has a retro 80's synth, new wave feel to it, but it goes for me of an ambient vibe than a drum machine dance record. It has solid songs with at least one single that I am sure will make my end of year list.
It's not a huge album, but it is a solid effort from an indie veteran.
